In this training video Dr Ben steps through each component of the patient consultations with practice patient “Mickey Mouse”. This video is intended for doctors in Australia wanting to know the process for prescribing medical cannabis to their patients. This instructional video will assist doctors to understand the process of applying to the TGA. It demonstrates the resources that are available for free on our website including clinical templates and a dosage guide to make prescriptions and medical notes easier and more efficient.
Any Australian-registered medical practitioner (including GPs) is allowed to apply to the TGA under the Special Access Scheme (SAS) for their patients. The TGA will consider any chronic condition lasting longer than 3 months and has not responded to conventional treatments or the current treatments have side effects.
Doctors, to get started, register for a TGA SAS account here: https://sas.tga.gov.au/
Once the TGA has confirmed your identity as a registered doctor you will be able to apply for each patient.
In the meantime, you can educate yourself on The Endocannabinoid System and Cannabinoid science. Please take a look at the many resources on our Website and You Tube Channel. Please get in touch if you require any more education or support in how to prescribe medicinal cannabis.
